Brushing

Brush your halo extension before and after each wear using a soft paddle brush or a loop brush specifically designed for extensions. Always start at the ends and work upwards in sections to avoid pulling and shedding. Never brush the extension when it's wet — wait until it's fully dry or use a wide-tooth comb on damp hair only.

Removing

Always remove your halo extension before sleeping, swimming, or showering. Leaving it in during these activities is the single biggest cause of premature wear and tangling.

Between Wears

Apply a light conditioning spray or extension mist between washes to keep the fibres soft, hydrated, and manageable. A small amount goes a long way — avoid over-saturating the fibres.

How to Wash Your Halo Extension

We recommend washing your halo every 15–20 wears — or sooner if you've used heavy products or it's been exposed to smoke, cooking smells, or excessive sweat.

Step-by-Step Washing Guide

1. Detangle first. Gently brush through the extension before washing to remove any knots. Trying to detangle wet fibres causes breakage.
2. Use cool water only. Hot water can alter the fibre structure and loosen the curl or wave pattern. Always wash in cool or lukewarm water.
3. Apply a sulphate-free shampoo. Work a small amount of gentle, sulphate-free shampoo through the extension in a downward motion. Never scrub or rub in circular motions — this causes tangling.
4. Rinse thoroughly. Rinse in cool water until the water runs completely clear. Residual shampoo can leave the fibres feeling dry and dull.
5. Condition. Apply a lightweight, silicone-free conditioner from mid-lengths to ends. Leave for 2–3 minutes, then rinse thoroughly in cool water.
6. Gently squeeze out excess water. Never wring or twist the extension. Wrap it gently in a clean microfibre towel and press to absorb moisture.

Drying Your Halo Extension

Air drying is always best. Lay the extension flat on a clean towel or hang it on a halo stand and allow it to dry naturally. This preserves the fibre quality and maintains the style.

• Halo stand: The best option. Hanging the extension on a dedicated stand keeps the wire in shape and the fibres tangle-free.
• Original packaging: If you no longer have the stand, the original box or packaging is a good alternative.
• Silk or satin bag: If you need to travel with your halo, store it in a silk or satin bag to minimise friction and static.
• Avoid: Loose drawers, plastic bags, or anywhere the extension can be compressed or tangled.

Long-Term Maintenance Tips

• Trim any split ends at the tips every few months to keep the extension looking fresh — a hairdresser can do this quickly and easily.
• Avoid prolonged UV exposure, which can fade the colour over time. Store away from direct sunlight.
• Keep the wire clean by wiping it with a damp cloth occasionally. A clean wire grips better and lasts longer.
