What You'll Need

Before you start, gather the following:

• A fine-tooth tail comb or sectioning clip
• A soft-bristle brush or wide-tooth comb
• A mirror (ideally a double mirror so you can see the back)

Step 1: Prep Your Natural Hair

Start with clean, dry hair. If your hair is very smooth or freshly washed, add a small amount of dry shampoo at the roots to create texture — this gives the wire something to grip and prevents the halo from slipping. Gently brush through your natural hair to remove any tangles.

Step 2: Section Your Hair

Using your tail comb, create a horizontal parting approximately 2–3 cm back from your hairline. This section will be your “cover layer” — the hair you’ll pull forward over the wire to conceal it. Clip this front section out of the way for now.
