What is the correct way to store your Hair Extensions?

We all know it's the last thing we want to do at the end of the day but storing your hair extensions the correct way will help the life span of your hair extensions.

What is the correct way to wash your Hair Extensions?

It shouldn't be necessary to wash your hair extensions straight away, you may need to wash every 6/8 weeks.

Mix half a cup of lukewarm water with a teaspoon of shampoo. We recommend sulphate free shampoo.

Fill your sink with warm water (not hot!) and mix the cup of diluted shampoo into the water. Keep the Halo weft or clips out of water (this avoids wetting the lace weft of the Halo and the clips going rusty on your clip ins). Make sure to gently brush your extensions to ensure they are tangle free and place them into the sink or bowl. Then swirl around the sink gently in one direction to avoid tangling.

Remove the extensions and rinse them under a warm running tap, holding the extensions at the top, near the clips/Halo weft.

Squeezing out any excess water (starting at the top working your way down) and avoiding tangling the hair, lay the extensions out flat on a towel. Apply a conditioning treatment to the extensions, such as an intensive repair treatment. Comb through from ends to weft using a wide tooth comb. Gently fold over the towel and leave for approx one hour to allow the conditioner to penetrate the hair to add the moisture back into the hair.

Rinse the conditioner out and apply a leave in conditioner serum or spray to the mid/end sections of the hair. You can apply more than you would usually on your own hair.

Blo Dry the hair extensions in small sections using a heat protector. Once your extensions have dried, you can comb through gently from clip to tip, before applying heat protection spray again and straightening one weft at a time.

Can you colour your Hair Extensions?

Yes of course! use only Fabric Dye, but, best avoid if possible. Before choosing your hair extensions, we would encourage you to use our colour matching service to get an ideal colour match from our available colours.

If we canot offer a perfect colour match and you need to dye them please follow the instructions below.

It's recommended to buy a shade closest to your own hair colour - lighter shade that your hair. The hair has already been through a chemical process, so bleaching or lightening the hair will affect the condition of the hair.

Do not rub or tangle the hair, simply apply the dye in a patting and stroking motion from root to tip, using a brush will help to evenly distribute the dye. The hair can be dyed more than once, but remember, like your own hair, the condition will be affected the more you dye the extensions. Always follow the instructions and thoroughly rinse the dye from the extensions. Read through the above instructions on cleaning your extensions for when it comes to washing the dye from the hair.

Always carry out a strand test before dyeing whole hair extensions. Dyeing hair extensions requires professional experience. Once hair has been dyed we cannot be held responsible for the dyeing process.

Things to avoid!

Don't use products which contain alcohol. These can dry out the extensions and make them brittle and weak.

Perfume can be a big cause of drying out extensions.

Don't wear your extensions to swim in, this will tangle them and dry them out.

Be sure to take your extensions out before going to bed.

Don't bleach or lighten your extensions.

Don't go to bed with your hair wet.

Don't leave your hair extensions to air dry

Why are my hair extensions dried out and frizzy?

No matter how much we wish they werebut hair extensions are not attched to your scalp in the same way your real, natural hair is.

Your scalp produces a natural hair oil called sebum to keep your hair in good check! Hair extensions whatever type you have don't receive this natural oil so overtime a lack of tlc can cause them to appear dry and damaged.

Often lighter shades will have been processed more and more chemicals added to the to achieve the shade therefore is more suseptible to dryness and breakage.

Avoid swimming in the sea as it is full of salt which is a recipe for dry and damaged hair.

How to revive my dry hair extensions?

Brush through your hair extensions to remove any knots/tangles. GENTLY start from the end and work up in small sections. Once the hair snaps off this cannot be replaced.

Apply a conditioning hair extension ask to the hair combing through evenly to distribute evenly all over the hair.

Leave this in a considerable amount of time to allow the penetration of the product - the longer the better!

Wash very thoroughly the treatment out with a sulphate free shampoo and condition - if any is left in this will occur more issues in the long term.

Before blow drying your extensions be sure to add a leave in conditioner, moisture spray and heat protector to maximise the moisture retention and prevent further drying out situations.

All extensions will then need to be straightened in small sections with a comb to ensure the cuticle is back aligned naturally.
